House Design Mistakes To Avoid

Don’t make the rooms too ‘use specific’ If you are building your dream home you are probably intending to live there for a very long time, and therefore as your lifestyle changes, your family changes, and the needs of the residents change so should the use of the rooms. What might start out as a nursery could one day be a study or home office, the home gym may morph into a home theatre, and the upstairs space that was once where the children rested safely may end up being your sanctuary. So ensure that you don’t make each room so specific to the current use that in future it’s either redundant or too costly to renovate for the new requirement. Future Proof with Smart Wiring Technology Few of us could have imagined the incredible technological advances the world has seen in the last decade or two. Whilst the fantasy of one day having a robot do all the jobs we don’t want to do is something that has been around for many decades, the idea that our whole world would be able to controlled by our telephone was beyond imagination, however it is becoming a reality, and faster than

Save Space in Your Home

Utility Room: Struggling to dry clothes during the winter months? Considering a tumble dryer but concerned that you do not have the space in your utility room? Did you know there are steps you can take to ensure you’re able to benefit from the drying power of a tumble dryer without losing valuable space? One of the best ways to utilise the space when bringing a tumble dryer into the home is to stack it on top of the washing machine. To do this we recommend using a stacking kit. NB: Failure to use a stacking kit has the potential to cause accidents, such as the top appliance falling over when the door is pulled open. Universal stacking kits are quick and easy to install, enabling you to safely and securely stack your tumble dryer on top of your washing machine. The majority of stacking kits are suitable to be used with appliances which are 60cm by 60cm, although we recommend checking the dimensions before purchasing. Along with enabling you to securely stack your tumble dryer on top of your washing machine, the Wpro Universal Stacking Kit can be purchased with a slide out shelf, making it easier for you

Rustic Furniture

I love the way the wood is crafted on each individual piece. Mixing some woods together such as Fir and Pine can make a piece unique as well as a beautiful sight to see. I love that so many of the legs on tables and chairs are the logs of the wood used. I love the look of just about all of it. I often think about how I would furnish a room if, or hopefully, when I could actually acquire some of those beautiful pieces of furniture. I have considered which room. The living room, the bedroom, the game or family room, all have given me so many ideas. I cannot truly think of any room that would not be so beautifully enhanced with the decor made of these beautiful rustic pieces. This type furniture does not dictate the same rules as other wood furniture choices where you need to be careful not to pick dark and light wood for the same room. With rustic creations, you can throw out some of those strict guidelines and make choices that are more pleasing than you might imagine. You can completely free up your imagination and your emotions to create a

Home Space Saving

Start by deciding what is really needed in each room. This cleansing process is actually quite therapeutic and helps remove any un-necessary objects. Be decisive – if it can be removed then remove it – it will ultimately assist your goal of creating more space. By a rule of thumb, if you can see the floor the room will look more spacious immediately. Don’t block hallways with wide furniture or accessories. Choose tall pieces of furniture for hallways to free up space. Decorate using a soft and light colour scheme. By choosing subtle blues and greens it makes the room feel open and airy. Choose room decorative pieces in the same colour family. Soft, cool or warm colours give rooms a more open look. Ideally furniture and wall colours should be coordinated to blend space rather than breaking up space with contrasting colours. Light makes a room larger so take advantage of natural light where possible. Open up windows and remove any heavy linings or curtains. If natural light is limited, implement artificial lighting such as lamps to open up areas of the room. Take advantage of see through materials to open up elements of a room. Consider using glass

Make A Small Bathroom Feel Bigger

Layout With space at a premium in a tight bathroom, every millimetre of space must be utilised effectively. A well-planned, hardworking layout will prove to be a winning strategy. The ultimate bathroom layout will have the sink close to the door, then the toilet and at the furthest point from the entry, the bath and/or shower. Tip: for aesthetic reasons, the toilet should not be the first thing you see as you enter the bathroom! Make sure you allow at least 50cm between the rim of the seat and any basin unit or wall so there is sufficient space for even the tallest user’s knees. Also, when planning your bathroom layout, consider high ceilings in a small space, where possible. Opt for 2.7m high over standard 2.4m heigh ceilings. High ceilings will enhance the sense of existing space. Fittings and Fixtures There is a multitude of space-saving fittings and fixtures available on the market today. For instance, wall mounted taps can create even more room. Opt for a neat, rectangular sink bowl over a round vanity bowl- these usually take up more space. A compact, space saving toilet cistern plumbed into the wall can give more room then a standard

Wood Wood is a versatile construction material. That is the reason it is commonly used to make furniture articles. Working with wood is easy as it can be molded to various shapes and sizes. While the surface of a wooden table is not smooth initially, it can be made smooth with the right tools. If you are looking for a vintage look, we suggest that you go for wooden tables. Metal Aside from wood, metal coffee tables are all the rage nowadays. Just like the wood, metal tables are sturdy and lightweight. The legs of a metal table are thinner than the top. Moreover, the legs are made into different weird shapes for style. Since metal is strong, the table provide better support than wood. Metal is resistant to water damage as well. Seater Dining Set

Rolling into the History History is a beautiful thing to look into; it contains stories of the people, the things they introduced and how these things became a part of their lives as well as ours. A dip into the history of a dining set allows you to praise your forefathers for being such visionaries, understanding the need for future better than us. Whilst the word ‘table’ is derived from the Latin word ‘tabula’, the earliest models of them were used by the Ancient Egyptians, albeit in a purely practical sense. The birth of the designs coincided with the emergence of the European Empires, who fixated on the idea of lavish living and opulent dining. The tables then were crafted in marble, elegantly evoking their enduring influence. Over the years, these sets were composed of a range of differentials, principally wood. Considered as a regal mix of authority and efficiency these tables formed the way for new and improved dining areas. The Newfangled Look The modern dining is all about style, beauty, panache and an overall enjoyment experience, focusing on the need for the right pieces of furniture. Whether you’re eating haute cuisine or a microwave dinner, it should the

When Buying Wicker Garden Furniture

Craftsmanship You’ll need to consider the quality of the materials and construction if you require truly hardwearing, solid furniture that will last you for decades to come. Raucord rattan is weatherproof, UV and temperature resistant, colourfast and scratch-free, meaning it’s the superior choice when considering synthetic rattan, although all synthetics should offer a good level of weather-resistance. UV protection is the key feature to look out for or your furniture will become brittle, crack, and/or fade after exposure to the sun. You should also ensure that your rattan furniture is built over a sturdy, corrosion-free aluminium frame instead or a steel one which will rust if left outdoors. You’ll also need to consider the weave. Loose weave wicker will likely unravel and look unsightly, so choose a tighter weave and ensure there are no protruding fibres or rough edges. Low Maintenance Both natural and synthetic rattan furniture require very little care other than a spot of cleaning every so often. However, as natural rattan offers less weather-resistance, synthetic rattan is much easier to maintain overall. To clean, you can use warm, soapy water or simply hose your furniture down. You should also look for high-quality cushions that can be left

Coffee Tables

Coffee tables are an essential part of any home décor style. We need them for their practical purpose just as much as we need them for their decor purposes. They are normally placed in the center of the living or family room over a rug or just on the ground. The coffee table is meant to compliment your sofas, rugs, wall décor and paint by tying them all together as the finishing touch to any home. They are also made to serve a practical purpose. If you plan on having one in your family room then it will most likely be the place to put your feet when having a conversation or watching a movie. It can be a place to play a card game or board game with your kids. A place to have snacks and drink during games and movies. Or maybe a place where your kids can get homework done and store their school supplies. When placed in a living room it can serve the purpose of holding décor items or maybe hold the occasional beverage while conversing with friends and guests. No matter where you place it will serve a great purpose. There are many questions

Synthetic pillows: Although these are relatively lightweight, cheap, and easy to bend and care for, they have the shortest durability span of all types of pillows.
